Mission Park is not just unique to both San Antonio and Texas but to the entire USA, as one of the largest independent funeral providers in the country and being in its second century of service, having provided quality funeral care for six generations of Texas families.

Owned and operated by Dick and Kristin Tips, the properties that make up the Mission Park portfolio are incredibly impressive and have taken funeral care to an entirely new level; indeed, many of the locations have been renamed as ‘Life Celebration centres’ where a family can take advantage of the facilities for weddings, baptisms, and funerals.

President of Skyways, Garry O’Loughlin, recalls, “As a publisher, you can well imagine that this project posed some major challenges to the Skyways team, and I remember spending a full day touring around the 16 locations with Dick and thinking, WOW, this is going to be an amazing publication, but boy have we got our work cut out for us…”

So, in 2020, we began the advertising sales, and Skyways filled their quota in a very short period of time, which is testament to the reputation of the Tips and Mission Park. The design and copyright process was not so easy as there was so much content to include, from Mission Park Cares, which is their own local broadcast TV channel, to the impressive properties within the portfolio that serve some 10,000 families every year.

Delivery of the first edition in 2021 was followed in 2022 by the second edition, and a third is already in the works. Skyways has also supplied the Tips with additional printed material, including a prestigious charity publication, which Skyways was very happy to collaborate on.

This project is continually funded entirely by third-party advertisers who take features within each publication. Skyways procures these businesses on behalf of Mission Park, mainly from the greater San Antonio area. The initial print delivery was 5,000 copies, but as HEB grocery/pharma stores acted as additional distribution points, we re-delivered an additional 5,000 copies.
